The Marion Chamber of Commerce will host its 80th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Join Chamber Board members and area business professionals to honor Marion’s Citizen of the Year, highlight 2016-17 accomplishments and celebrate progress in the community. Keynote speaker for the event will be Zachary Mannheimer, Principal Community Planner with McClure Engineering. Mr. Mannheimer founded the Des Moines Social Club, an arts and educational non-profit. His work there has been featured in publications across the country. In 2016, he became the vice president of placemaking at Iowa Business Growth and recently moved to McClure Engineering “We are excited to host Zach as our keynote speaker. He has a thought-provoking story to tell about the impact community planning and placemaking have on economic development,” says Jill Ackerman, president of the Marion Chamber. “His message will dovetail perfectly with our announcement about what’s NEXT for Marion.” Following the keynote, attendees will be among the first active participants in Marion’s NEXT community development initiative which will roll out at the meeting. The luncheon, sponsored by Sheets Forrest Draper Insurance, will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Rapids Marriott, 1200 Collins Road NE.
