Sound Mind Therapy will celebrate its opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday, October 13 at 4:00 p.m. The new practice, located at 955 31st St, Ste B, is owned by Marion native Amber Hoff. Ms. Hoff graduated with a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Mount Mercy University and is a fully licensed LMFT. She has a specialization in post-traumatic stress disorder with training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Locating her practice in Marion was an easy choice said Hoff. “I wanted to follow a career path that allowed me to give back to the city I was raised in,” she stated. “I’m passionate about being involved in the community, understanding the overall mental health of the area, and being able to provide resources and education to the public.” In addition to serving families and individuals struggling with mental health symptoms in her office, Hoff is looking to build strong relationships with the business community. “Being specialized in PTSD I can assist people with high stress careers as well as consult businesses, helping them understand how to improve mental health in the workplace. When those tools are in place employees are able to be more healthy and effective with their families and in the community outside of the workplace,” added Hoff.
