Linn County REC will celebrate the completion of an expansion and remodeling project with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. Marion Chamber Ambassadors will assist with the event. The company added 6,500 square feet to their existing location at 5695 Rec Drive in Marion. The project also included a 5,000 square foot remodel of existing space adding a 90-seat classroom style training room, 10 offices, and expansion of the crew area. “Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative’s current headquarters was constructed in 1999, since that time the number of members we serve has doubled,” said Terry Sullivan, General Manager and CEO. “The recent addition provides the resources needed to serve our growing membership with safe, reliable electricity.” In addition, Linn County REC was able to secure public access to the building and convert all areas to high efficiency LED lighting and Geothermal Heating and Cooling. Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative is a local, member owned, distribution electric cooperative in Marion, Iowa. Linn County REC provides electricity to 28,000 residential, commercial and agriculture members in Linn and Johnson counties with line extensions into Jones, Cedar, Iowa and Benton counties.
