Connects with 931 Marion Businesses in 95 Days In May, Marion Police Chief Joe McHale issued a challenge to his officers to personally contact every business in Marion within 100 days. The effort supported the department’s new data-driven deployment strategy and provided an opportunity to update emergency contact information for each business and provide a folder of reference material from the City. Patrol officers stepped up to the challenge and connected with 931 businesses within 95 days. “It is important for the business community to understand our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of their investments,” said McHale. “The positive personal interactions and updated information we now have on file are a win for everyone.” The business community echoed this sentiment. “Being a business owner requires a leap of faith,” said Jill Ackerman, president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce. “I applaud the enhanced outreach efforts of the Police Department. This type of community support goes a long way in ensuring the success of a business.” Any brick/mortar business that may have been missed is encouraged to keep updated contact information on file with the Police Department.
