Marion LIVE, a new young workforce network, will kick off in April and offer the next generation an opportunity to meet, volunteer in the community, and grow personally and professionally. A program of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion LIVE exists to connect members of today’s young workforce with each other and the community. “The idea was brought to us by a few recent graduates returning to the area,” stated Jill Ackerman, Marion Chamber president. “It aligns with the Chamber’s desire to acquaint young people, knowing that relationships are a powerful retention tool.” “Marion is continuing to experience great growth, something I noticed when returning to my hometown,” said Zach Bohannon, an initiator of the Marion LIVE program. “There is a need here to get the younger population plugged into the community, involved in projects and developing meaningful civic relationships.” Over the course of the next year, participants will have the opportunity to get to know their peers, connect with businesses, participate in community service projects, and attend personal and professional development workshops. Topics may range from setting personal finance goals to getting the most out of networking opportunities. “Our goal with programming is to offer access to resources and experiences in the community where they may have grown up, recently moved to or now work,” added Ackerman. “We know they are here doing awesome things, Marion LIVE is a catalyst for connecting and developing our next generation of leaders.” The kickoff event will be held Thursday, April 27 at Louie’s Scoreboard, 740 10th St in Marion. Registration will begin at 5:00 p.m. Information detailing the program and networking from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. For more information or to register in advance visit marioncc.org/marionlive.
