New Century Event Consignment is celebrating its grand opening on Friday, April 28 at 4:00 p.m. with a ribbon cutting. Chamber Ambassadors will assist with the event. The new store, located at 1199 Grand Avenue, specializes in event and party item consignment. Owner Michelle Fulmer says the idea grew out of their 20 year family operated tent rental businesses, New Century Tents. “After renting tents, tables, and chairs for parties and weddings we noticed that families had a lot of decorations, centerpieces and formal clothing they no longer needed,” she stated. “The new store in Marion provides an outlet for those items. Things that made your party awesome can now go to future party planners and help make their event affordable.” Ms. Fulmer added the store will operate on consignment. Customers only need to drop off items from their event then stop back to pick up a check. Staff will price, advertise and sell the items. In addition to party décor, New Century Event Consignment will accept bridal gowns. Store hours are Monday – Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For questions call 319-362-8227.
