At a time when area food pantries are seeing greater demand, the City of Marion is partnering with HACAP Food Reservoir to host a food drive to support those facing food insecurity. Donations will be redistributed to local food pantries by HACAP. Several City facilities will accept non-perishable food items beginning next week through the end of November. Donations may be brought to the following locations during normal business hours: Thomas Park Administrative and Operations Facility, 343 Marion Blvd. Marion Public Library, 1101 6th Ave. Marion Police Headquarters, 6315 Hwy 151 Fire Station No. 1, 100 Irish Dr. Financial donations can be directed to HACAP at www.hacap.org/donate. Requested foods include reduced/low sodium canned chicken and/or tuna, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, canned fruits (in juice), no salt added canned vegetables, canned diced tomatoes, reduced/low sodium canned soup, dried beans, nuts and seeds, peanut butter, jasmine and basmati rice, dried fruits, and macaroni and cheese. Please, no glass packaging.
