The Ambassador Spotlight is a monthly feature of The Marion Chamber of Commerce and Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. Each month enjoy getting to know one of the Ambassadors who volunteer their time to help support our members.

Ambassador Spotlight with Rachel Hauck

“I have been able to meet a ton of people that I probably would not have otherwise been introduced to and made an initial contact that has led to new business after developing a relationship.”

Rachel Hauck is a Commercial Loan Officer and Branch Manager at Community Savings Bank in Marion. She has been an Ambassador since 2011 and joined the group to be involved and meet people in the business community.

Her favorite Ambassador moments include the emotional connections made during ribbon cutting and ground breaking events that occurred post-flood, and seeing first-hand the re-investment into the community. Each new project making it stronger and better.

Here’s what Rachel had to say about serving as an Ambassador.

Q: What motivated you to become an Ambassador?
A: To get more involved and meet people in the business community. Not being from the Cedar Rapids / Marion area originally, I didn't have many local connections when I started in my role with the bank.

Q: How had being an Ambassador benefited you?
A: I have been able to meet a ton of people that I probably would not have otherwise been introduced to and made an initial contact that has led to new business after developing a relationship. It also is a great way to give back to the local businesses in our community who are investing in making our city a better place to live!

Q: What do you find beneficial about being a member of the Marion Chamber or Economic Alliance?
A: Both organizations do so much to promote our community, bring new business to our area, and put on events that made Cedar Rapids & Marion great places to live. We see the benefits of that everyday! Being a Chamber / EA Member also lends a lot of credibility to a business, plus the training and leadership opportunities are fantastic. I took a lot from my participation in Marion Leadership in Action and hope to participate in Leadership for Five Seasons at some point.

Just For Fun

Q: What is a little known fact about you:
A: I’m and only child. Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve done? A: Climbed Long’s Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. Also, climbed another mountain on the first day of my 3rd trimester when pregnant with my first child!

Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: A banker! I grew up in banking - my mom just retired after 43 years with her community bank and I spent a LOT of time as a kid in the bank with her!

Thanks for your volunteerism Rachel!
