Schultz Strings will celebrate their move to a new location on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting assisted by Chamber Ambassadors. In May, the business relocated to 1190 Twixt Town Rd NE, just on the edge of Marion and Cedar Rapids. The new space accommodates all their services under one roof and positions them for future growth. Owners John and Rebecca Schultz started the business out of their Mt. Vernon home in 2009. Within two years moved to Cedar Rapids where they continued to grow their rental business, offered lessons, and began serving many school district programs. “Our team is so excited to be in our newer, larger and easier to find facility that will bring together our student and professional educational services with community engagement opportunities like workshops and concerts to elevate the performing arts in Cedar Rapids and Marion,” said Schultz. Today Schultz Stings employs 16 people and boasts the largest inventory of bowed string instruments in Iowa. The retail space features movable fixtures to accommodate performances with a custom built display case crafted by John serving as the backdrop. In addition to retail, rentals, and lessons, the new space includes a state of the art restoration studio which can accommodate up to six technicians. They offer routine repair and maintenance as well as restoration of old and rare instruments. During the Grand Opening day Schultz Strings will hold drawings for free lessons, bows, other supplies and provide light refreshments.
