The Marion Economic Development Corporation and Marion Chamber of Commerce will jointly host a mayoral and city council candidate forum featuring individuals seeking election in the City of Marion. The forum will take place Thursday, October 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Lowe Park Arts & Environment Center, 4500 North 10th Street in Marion. The forums will follow a question and answer format of predetermined questions while also giving voters an opportunity to submit questions to a moderator. The first hour of the forum will feature council candidates running for the At Large, Ward 1, and Ward 3 seats. Invited candidates include: Council At Large Council Ward 1 Paul Draper (Incumbent) Colette Atkins (Incumbent) Grant Harper Dwight Hogan Council Ward 2 Will Brandt (Incumbent) Mikeal Tope The second hour of the forum will feature candidates running to be elected Mayor of Marion. Invited candidates include Nicolas AbouAssaly (Incumbent) and Mary Lou Pazour. The public is invited and encouraged to attend the forum. The combined City and School elections will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Voters may request absentee ballots until 10 days before the general election by visiting http://www.linncounty.org/157/Election-Services.
