Dolly Parton Imagination Library Alive and Well in Marion

In January 2020, Friends of the Marion Public Library introduced the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program to Marion. This wonderful partnership promotes early reading habits and encourages a lifelong appreciation for literacy and learning among our local Marion children.

All kids from birth to age 5 who live in the 52302 ZIP code are eligible to register for the program. Once registered, children receive one book (and associated activities!) by mail each month until they age out of the program. There is no cost to the child’s family to participate.

We currently have 855 children registered; 105 have “graduated.” Our numbers grow with each month! It's a great problem to have but the more children we enroll the higher our monthly bill from the national program. For our affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to be sustainable, we need ongoing funding from donors who recognize the value of reading and literacy for Marion’s children.

We are seeking local businesses who would like to join us in our efforts to provide books and to support a love of reading for all Marion children. We hope that might be YOU! We are happy to accept donations in any amount but offer some suggestions for businesses and companies who might be able to be more generous. Donors are acknowledged at our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Marionpubliclibraryfriends) and website (https://mpliowafriends.org/dolly-parton-i-l) at these levels:

Corporate sponsorship levels:

  • Bronze (sponsor 40-60 children for ONE FULL YEAR): $1,000 - $1,500
  • Silver (sponsor 60-100 children for ONE FULL YEAR): $1,501 - $2,500
  • Gold (sponsor 100-200 children for ONE FULL YEAR): $2,501 - $5,000
  • Diamond (sponsor more than 200 children for ONE FULL YEAR):  over $5,000

100% of your donation supports the local program and provides books for Marion kids. Become a donor today! Friends of the Marion Public Library is a 501(C)3 charitable organization, so donations are eligible for a tax deduction.
