Marion’s public library is a vital asset to our community. It is a destination, a hub and a community center. As the Marion community grows and changes, so must the library to meet the demands. Now is our chance to help our library offer the best resources and learning spaces through the $3.3 million Our Next Chapter capital campaign. To date, $2,554,796 has been raised leaving just $745,203 to goal. If you have already given to the campaign, thank you! If you have yet to make a gift, now is the time to consider supporting this project. The new 52,000 sf building will feature an outdoor reading terrace and a demonstration kitchen with the purpose of serving meals to seniors and students as well as culinary arts programming and education. The children’s library will include a STEAM interactive zone that will promote group learning and problem solving. The artisan’s studio is designed for making and creating as well as a fully equipped recording studio containing both audio and video capabilities. Most anticipated are the multiple meeting rooms that will be available to the community for trainings, conferences, conventions, and social events. The large community room is designed to hold 150 people enabling the library to host regional or statewide events. Much space is allocated to accommodate arts and culture exhibits and events. This project is a perfect fit with Marion’s long-term development plan and economic development strategy. With all that the new library will have to offer, it will become a local and regional attraction, bringing many visitors to our community.
