The holidays are about connecting with friends and family. UScellular is nourishing these connections by enabling communities to share a meal with the ones they love. During visits this week, UScellular donated $600 to Green Square Meals in Cedar Rapids, $500 to Marion Cares and $5,000 worth of commercial grade kitchen equipment to support the Coralville Community Food Pantry’s “More Than a Pantry” building campaign. The kitchen equipment includes a Big Green Egg Smoker, Big Green Egg Smoker Stand, Big Green Egg commercial accessories, commercial double fryer, rice cooker, Vitamix Food Processor and Vitamix Mixer. The Coralville Community Food Pantry looks to build a 5,000-square-foot addition that allows for substantial food storage, an easy-to-navigate shopping area, an educational garden, a patio with picnic tables, a community fridge and an outdoor cooking area for grill outs and pizza nights. “Green Square Meals, Marion Cares and the Coralville Community Food Pantry do so much for the community, so we wanted to fulfill their wish list and help them deliver the much-needed support they provide throughout the Corridor,” said Brett Kedley, UScellular’s retail store manager in Coralville. “Food has the power to connect people. We believe every family deserves to come together, strengthen ties and make memories this time of year.” This holiday season, UScellular will provide food banks, pantries and shelters with needed supplies and has a goal to support more than 135 organizations across the country. UScellular retail stores also will collect donations for local food-focused nonprofits. For more information, you can visit newsroom.uscellular.com/nourishing-connections. Since 2009, UScellular has donated more than $22.6 million along with countless experiences and technology items to nonprofit organizations across the country.
