The City of Marion invites area developers, architects, realtors, contractors and builders to an open house and informational session on Thursday, March 23, between 7:30-9:30 a.m. in the Community Room at the Marion Public Library, 1101 6th Avenue. A light breakfast will be provided. Representatives from City departments and Marion Economic Development Corporation (MEDCO) will be on hand to discuss topics that impact those in the building construction industry. Learn about common construction violations, the digital plan review process, new top soil requirements, changes to the zoning map, possible fee changes, updates to the fire alarm and sprinkler review process and more. Visit with members of the Marion Water Department, Community Development Department, Fire Department, Engineering Department and MEDCO. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a light breakfast and welcome. Informational booths will be available in a come-and-go format between 7:30-9:30 a.m. A classroom-style session for those involved in residential development is planned for 7:45 a.m. led by the Building Division.
