Modern Valley Hair Company, a fresh new salon in the heart of Uptown Marion, will celebrate its grand opening on Friday, September 13 at 4:30 PM. Owned and operated by Shelby Roelfs, Modern Valley Hair Company officially opened its doors on July 1, 2024, and has quickly made an impact with clientele. Ms. Roelfs’ journey to opening her own salon began after moving with her family from Marion to a small town outside Cedar Rapids. Missing the unique and vibrant atmosphere of Uptown Marion, she decided to pursue her dream of creating a space where clients and stylists alike could feel welcome, valued, and at home. She brings a wealth of experience from working in top-tier salons and has now fulfilled her vision of building something truly her own. “When I started looking for a place to open a salon, I knew right away that this was where I wanted to make my dreams come true. I wanted to create a safe space, not just for clients but for stylists as well,” Roelfs shared. “The name 'Modern Valley' came from combining my passion for the hair industry with a personal tribute to my great-grandfather Vallie, who was a barber and shop owner in Traer for many years.” Modern Valley Hair Company offers clients a warm and inviting experience, complete with complimentary beverages, top-of-the-line luxury products such as R&Co, R&Co Bleu, and Goldie Locks, and a range of professional services. Specializing in hair shaping, blonding, dimensional colors, blowouts, and extensions, the talented stylists at Modern Valley are dedicated to staying current on the latest trends through continuous education. Each stylist operates independently, creating a flexible environment where appointments are by booking only. "We may be self-employed, but we are a team at Modern Valley," Roelfs added.
