Montessori School of Marion will celebrate its expansion into elementary education with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event will take place on Friday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the school’s location, 420 Colton Circle NE, Cedar Rapids. This milestone celebrates the school’s recent addition of a brand-new elementary program, continuing Montessori’s rich, child-centered learning philosophy to first through third grades. The new program is housed in an expanded section of the school, equipped with state-of-the-art Montessori materials and specifically designed to meet the needs of growing children. Owner and director of the Montessori School of Marion, Aurora Costache, brings her wealth of experience from around the world to the metro area. Her journey with Montessori education began as a parent in Ontario, Canada, and her passion was sparked when she saw how this unique teaching method honored the natural development of each child. She completed her AMS (American Montessori Society) certification in 2004 and has since taught in Canada, Japan, and Italy before founding the Montessori School of Marion in 2016. Under Mrs. Costache’s leadership, the school has grown from a single classroom with twelve students to four classes serving children from ten weeks to nine years of age. Now, with the new elementary program, the school will be able to continue nurturing students through this vital stage of their development. “The elementary program opens a new chapter for our school and offers our children the opportunity to continue learning and growing with the Montessori method,” said Costache. “We believe that education should animate the child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn, and we are thrilled to bring this to our community at a higher level.” The Montessori School of Marion is proud to be the only AMS-accredited school in Iowa, a distinction that ensures adherence to the highest standards in Montessori education. This expansion reflects the school’s commitment to providing an authentic Montessori experience to the children and families of Eastern Iowa. Families interested in learning more about the school can visit montessorischoolofmarion.org or email office@montessorischollofmarion.com. Additionally, parents are encouraged to schedule a tour of the school with Mrs. Costache to learn about the school’s culture and educational approach.
