Iowa Kids Pediatric Dentistry will celebrate the grand opening of a new dental practice with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 1 at 1 p.m. The event will take place at 100 6th Avenue in Marion and marks their commitment to providing exceptional pediatric dental care to the community. The office is led by Dr. Kaaren Vargas, DDS, PhD, a board-certified pediatric dentist, and her daughter, Dr. Cecilia Vargas, DDS, a general dentist. Dr. Kaaren Vargas has extensive experience, including over 30 years in pediatric dentistry and contributions as a published researcher, educator, and leader in national and international dental organizations. Dr. Cecilia Vargas, following in her mother’s footsteps, is bringing her skills to serve young patients in a fun and engaging environment. After selling her private practice in North Liberty in 2019, Dr. Vargas decided to return with the opportunity to practice with her daughter. Together they opened this past August. “Getting to work with my daughter is a dream come true,” Dr. Vargas said. “I love the energy she brings to the practice and it is so wonderful to see how great of a dentist she is.” Iowa Kids Pediatric Dentistry offers a wide range of pediatric dental services, including dental education, recare appointments, sealants, fillings, emergency care, extractions, cosmetic dentistry and pulp therapy for primary and permanent teeth. The clinic also offers sedation options to ensure a comfortable experience, including nitrous oxide and access to operating room services at The University of Iowa Downtown Campus in Iowa City. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere are Iowa Kids Pediatric Dentistry’s two therapy dogs, Truly and Pacha, who help create a calm environment for young patients. Dr. Vargas shares, “We designed this office to be a memorable, positive place for both kids and parents. From the cheerful facility to the friendly faces and knowledgeable care, we aim to make every visit a great experience.” Area residents will recognize the location as the former McDonald’s restaurant. While the building itself has undergone a complete reconstruction, Dr. Vargas kept the iconic white MARION letters that have long served as the city’s unofficial entrance along Marion Boulevard.
