Goodwill Offers Free and Secure Electronics Recycling to Area Organizations

Environmental sustainability is within reach when area businesses, nonprofits, and schools take part in Goodwill of the Heartland’s free computer and electronics recycling. This program is a valuable year-round service that allows businesses and organizations to donate unused or outdated computers and electronics in bulk, ensuring responsible recycling and data security.

Goodwill of the Heartland accepts working and non-working computers, printers, monitors and related electronics. Individuals can simply drive up to donation bays where staff will assist. For businesses, nonprofits, and schools with large quantities of outdated equipment, Goodwill offers tailored solutions, including pickup services.

"Goodwill’s free electronics recycling program is a win-win for both the environment and the community," said Andrew Giese, eCommerce Manager. "We are proud to collaborate with local organizations to provide an easy, secure and sustainable way to recycle electronics. Our team works directly with partners to ensure donations are handled with care and efficiency."

For Earth Day and beyond, this program not only helps prevent thousands of pounds of electronics from ending up in landfills, but it also supports Goodwill's mission of providing education, training, and job opportunities to local people in need.

"Earth Day is a perfect time to reflect on our collective responsibility to protect our environment and our natural resources," said Pat Airy, CEO of Goodwill of the Heartland. "By partnering with other groups to responsibly recycle unwanted electronics, we are helping create a more sustainable future, while also supporting our mission of providing life-changing opportunities to people in our community."

Goodwill’s partnership with Dell Technologies ensures donated electronics are either refurbished for resale or responsibly recycled. Items not suitable for resale are carefully dismantled, and valuable materials are recovered to support the circular economy.

Bulk donations can be arranged by contacting Goodwill’s team directly.

Key Program Details:

  • Free, Convenient Service: No cost to individuals or organizations for electronics recycling.
  • Data Security: Data is securely wiped following Department of Defense standards.
  • Environmental Impact: Just last year, 189,165 pounds of e-waste was diverted from local landfills.

Donate Your Devices, Not Your Data by visiting any of Goodwill of the Heartland’s 18 store locations or contacting us for bulk donation arrangements.
