Marion Public Library is hosting two virtual community input sessions focused on the design of the City’s new library building. They will be held on Monday, May 11th at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 12th at 11:30 a.m. All are invited to register for these sessions and registration details will be available this week. The Library Board approved the creation of a building steering committee last fall. The committee is made up of representatives from the Marion City Council, City staff, the library’s Board of Trustees, library staff, Marion citizens, and the Uptown Marion District. This committee has been working closely with library staff to produce an initial design for the new library. “Ensuring that this new building fits into our historic district and is reflective of our community is central to this project”, states Director Hollie Trenary. “We’re so excited to showcase where we are, introduce the team, get input from more of our community and detail where we’re headed next.” Marion Public Library remains committed to listening and responding to those in the community regarding the new building project. Now that the initial design of the new library is ready for review, it’s time for the community to provide input on the final design features.
