Uptown Marion Market Return June 13, With Restrictions

The Uptown Marion Market season is set to begin Saturday, June 13 from 8 – 11 a.m. In compliance with health guidelines for farmers markets, the event is moving to a linear format on 6th Avenue between 10th Street and 11th Street in Uptown Marion and will feature twelve vendors.

“This is changing the way we operate Uptown Marion Market,” said Tami Schlamp, Director of Member Services for Marion Chamber of Commerce. “As we continue to adapt, our priority will remain on the safety of vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees while offering the public access to local products.”

The dates of Uptown Marion Market will remain the same: June 13, July 11, and August 8. Times will be 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. Current public health guidelines allow only the sale of Farm Products and Food at the market.

In addition to the health and safety standards our community has been following, like handwashing and social distancing, attendees will be asked to follow market-specific requests as laid out in guidance provided by the State of Iowa:

  • Use the designated entry and exit points (entry will be at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 11th Street only). Follow instructions for handwashing/sanitizing and traffic flow.
  • Attend the market alone without any other family members. Children will not be allowed to attend the market at this time.
  • Wear what makes you comfortable. Volunteers and vendors will be wearing masks. Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear a mask or other protective face-covering.
  • Shop efficiently to expedite your trip to the market. We encourage you to shop quickly then head home to unpack your purchases.
  • Look for signage at vendor tents to view availability and allow the Vendor serve you. Vendors will minimize contact, ask for your products, and the vendor will put together your order.
  • Be patient as the organizers and vendors adapt to new and changing protocols. Follow the Marion Chamber Facebook Page @MarionIAChamber for updates.

During this time, the market will have no on-site special programming, music performances, common seating, and eating on-site is not permitted.

“We know Uptown Marion Market has been an event enjoyed by families and this looks a lot different from what attendees used to,” added Schlamp. “We are happy to provide access to local good and products, and we look forward to when we can welcome everyone back to enjoy Marion together. We will continue to evaluate options and make the best decisions as the market season continues.”

Vendor information and market map will be posted when available by visiting or
