August Uptown Getdown Hits The Road

A re-imagined Uptown Getdown event will kick off August 6. The series which is usually held in City Square Park will hit the road to offer live music to the Marion community in a safe, distanced setting.

The bands will be on-board the Uptown Getdown bandwagon and will play at three locations each Thursday night in August. Each stop will include a 40 minute set before moving to the next location.

August 6 - Bamboozlers
August 13 – Katie & The Honky Tonks
August 20 – Bootjack
August 27 – Casting Call

Lowe Park, 4500 N 10th St @ 5:30
Thomas Park, 343 Marion Blvd @ 6:30
Willowood Park/Marion Pool, 1855 35th St @ 7:30

Attendees should pick the stop that accommodates them best. Lowe Park and Willowood Park/Marion Pool will offer space to park and remain inside your car or socially-distance in the grass. Thomas Park will offer mostly grass seating. There will be no restrooms available at Lowe Park and Willowood Park/Marion Pool. The restrooms at Thomas Park will be open.

At the conclusion of each set, attendees should allow the bandwagon time to leave before exiting the area so they can get to the next stop.

Do your part to keep everyone safe:
• Choose a spot and remain in it, but if the music moves you, hop up and dance in place!
• Respect those around you by keeping with your group or family.
• Carry in, carry out. We will not be placing garbage cans, please help us keep the parks clean by taking everything with you when you leave.
• In addition, please continue observing these public health practices: Stay home if you are sick, social distance by keeping 6 ft apart, clean hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer, mask up when necessary to protect your neighbors.

This event is made possible thanks to the Marion Chamber Platinum Community Partners: Farmers State Bank, ImOn Communications, and Summit Pointe Senior Living with support from the Marion Hotel/Motel Grant Program. Special thank you to Culver’s Garden Center and Greenhouse for use of the hayrack.
